HUNTINGTON CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says that new restrictions and closures are scheduled for I-69 in Huntington County.
Starting on or after May 27, crews will be working on the I-69 bridges over State Road 5/State Road 218. Work on the project is expected to be complete by mid-June. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
During construction, S.R. 5/S.R. 218 will be closed between the on and off-ramps of both directions of I-69. Access to southbound I-69 will only be available from the west, with access to northbound I-69 only available to the east. Drivers can use the detour of S.R. 5, State Road 124 and State Road 9, or seek an alternate route.
INDOT released the following:
I-69 will also have intermittent lane closures and full closures during construction. The closures will only take place overnights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. During the full closures, traffic will have to exit I-69 at Exit 273 and re-enter using the on-ramps. Police will be present during the full closures to help direct traffic.
INDOT encourages drivers to consider safety for all by slowing down, using extra caution and driving distraction-free when traveling in and around all work zones.
