FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) released body camera footage from a dangerous house fire that led to a heroic rescue by local officers.
A structure fire was reported in the 3700 block of South Hanna Street around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
As seen in the footage released by the department, officers found a garage completely engulfed in flames when they arrived. The flames were spreading as FWPD Officers Diaz, Williams, and Bell began to evacuate the surrounding structures.
The three officers noticed a dog kennel that was closed with dogs inside, and it was catching fire.
The FWPD says three courageous officers forced the kennel open and rescued the dogs.

On Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at roughly 12:25 am a structure fire was reported in the area of 3700 S. Hanna St. Fort Wayne Police Department Officers responded to the fire and observed a detached garage fully engulfed in flames that was spreading to nearby structures!
Officers Diaz, Williams, and Bell arrived on the scene and took immediate action and began to evacuate the surrounding homes for safety. During the evacuation, Officers noticed a dog kennel on fire with dogs inside. The kennel was locked. Officers had to force the kennel open to save the dogs from the fire, at risk to their own safety.
