Details/Summary: On November 19, 2025, at 10:14pm, an officer with the Fort Wayne Police Department was in the area of the Northcrest Shopping Center when he observed a pickup truck traveling northbound on N. Clinton St. at an excessively high rate of speed. The officer attempted to catch up to the pickup truck as the pickup turned eastbound onto St. Joe Center Rd. The pickup then turned southbound into the Papermill Bluffs neighborhood and as it turned eastbound onto Papermill Xing, the officer was finally able to catch up and activate his red and blue emergency lights and siren. The pickup continued driving at an excessively high rate of speed for a very short distance before it left the roadway and struck two parked vehicles in a driveway before ultimately crashing into a house in what became the 5700 block of Roaring Fork Run.
The officer attempted to make contact with the driver, who was the sole occupant and was pinned in the vehicle. Medics arrived and pronounced the driver deceased.
There were no injuries to any of occupants in the house that was struck, and no other persons or vehicles were involved in the incident. The driver was eventually extricated from the vehicle by the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department’s FACT Team and the Allen County Coroner’s Office, who will release the identity of the driver as well as the exact cause and manner of death.
There is nothing further at this time.
