INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will investigate the state’s five largest investor-owned utility companies.
The IURC will look into the affordability for the five after getting a growing number of customer concerns over high energy bills. New chair Andy Zay says it’s a different move for the commission, noting they are a regulatory agency and it’s not their style to “get involved in these issues.”
But Zay adds the balance of utilities providing service that is safe and reliable, along with costing a reasonable amount, “feels dramatically out of whack right now for many, many Hoosiers.”
