INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – A ban on cellphones in K-12 schools in Indiana is now on the desk of Governor Mike Braun for his signature.
The state Senate gave the bill final approval this week. The ban would be for the entire school day, and the phones, smartwatches, and gaming devices would need to be put in a locked device or kept in the student’s locker.
School-supplied devices will be acceptable for use. Teachers expressed concerns about students being constantly distracted in class.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – A bill that would further restrict students from using cell phones in Indiana schools is advancing. Senate Bill 78 was passed on a 28 to 19 vote this week.
If it becomes law, the measure would not allow students to use a cell phone, smart watch, or other wireless devices in schools for the entire day.
The bill is now heading to the Indiana House for consideration.
