UPDATE (March 13, 2026):
(ADAMS) – The price of gas continues to rise. AAA says the current price for a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. is $3.63 on average. That’s up four cents a gallon from yesterday.
Last week, the average was $3.32. The rise in gas prices has been attributed to the war in Iran. California is paying the highest average at the pump, while Kansas is the lowest at $3.07.

UPDATE (March 12, 2026):
(ADAMS) – Gas prices are continuing to rise. The national average for a gallon of regular jumped overnight to $3.59, according to AAA.
A week ago, the national average was at $3.25. A month ago, before the start of the Iran war, prices were hovering right around $2.94.

UPDATE (March 10, 2026):
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Governor Braun says he is not ruling out suspending Indiana’s gas tax, with prices jumping every day.
Braun says if the prices keep rising for two-and-a-half to three weeks, he will consider taking that action. He adds that once Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz, prices should drop and ideally drop as much as they have risen.
Hoosiers are paying an average of nearly $3.50 a gallon right now, according to AAA, 50-cents more than last week, and prices could keep rising.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Oil is topping $100 a barrel for the first time since July 2022 as the ripple effects from the conflict in Iran hit global markets.
Gas prices are also soaring, with the national average at $3.47 a gallon today, according to AAA.
California continues to see the highest prices. Drivers in the Golden State are shelling out around $5.20. GasBuddy says that the average is $3.56 a gallon for regular in Fort Wayne.
