GRANT CO., Ind. (ADAMS) -The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says one person died and several others were hurt in a crash Saturday.
Police were called to a crash involving multiple vehicles on State Road 9 and Meridian Street, near Marion, around 8:45 p.m. According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived on scene and saw four vehicles involved in the wreck, and multiple people were injured.
Everyone except a 57-year-old woman was taken to a Marion hospital for treatment. The woman was taken by medical helicopter but succumbed to her injuries
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation revealed that three of the vehicles were driving southbound on State Road 9, with the other traveling northbound.
Police think one of the southbound vehicles slowed or stopped to make a left-hand turn on Meridian Street when it was rear-ended, spun into northbound traffic.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office released the following:
On Saturday, September 13th, 2025, at approximately 8:46 PM (20:46 hours) the Grant County 911 Emergency Central Dispatch received call(s) reference a traffic accident involving multiple vehicles on State Road 9 at Meridian Street on the north side of Marion, with common address of 2210 N Huntington Road.
On Sheriff’s Deputies arrival, it was determined there were four (4) vehicles involved in this traffic crash with multiple injuries and at least one entrapment. The injured were transported to Marion Health (Main) for treatment, and one was lifeline via Medic Helicopter to Fort Wayne hospital where she died. The deceased is a 57-year-old Marion woman, and her identity is not being released at this time pending the Allen County Coroner’s Office confirmation on notification of family.
Grant County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the crash investigation with assistance from the Indiana State Police. This investigation is ongoing, so this is only preliminary information for public release and subject to change as the investigators gather the information and facts relevant to the crash.
Investigators at the scene initial information and evidence appeared that three of the vehicles were traveling southbound on State Road 9, and one was northbound.
A southbound vehicle slowed or stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Meridian Street. This vehicle was rear-ended causing it to spin into opposite lane where it was struck by the northbound vehicle, again causing vehicle to spin out of control into the path of a vehicle again traveling southbound. The four (4) vehicles involved, 2012 Chrysler van, 2014 Chevrolet auto, 2006 Buick auto, and 2010 Ford SUV.
