INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana House of Representatives has rejected a bill that would have allowed the state to use a firing squad to carry out a death row inmate’s execution. The bill was three votes shy of the required constitutional majority, but it could be brought back for another vote before Monday’s legislative deadline.
There were 48 yes votes and 47 no votes, and the bill needed at least 51 votes to be passed. Nineteen Republicans joined 28 Democrats in voting against the bill.
