FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Two people were taken to the hospital following a fire in an apartment building at Bluffton and Engle.
Fort Wayne Fire Department crews were called just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, to the 2020 block of Engle Road, on reports of the blaze at Indian Village Manor.
Several people had made it out on their own. The current conditions of the two taken to the hospital are not known.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The FWFD released the following:
Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment on fire at address stated. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire smoke showing from an apartment with several occupants evacuating apartments. Firefighters pulled attack hose lines and extinguished apartment fire. Firefighters conducted searches of all apartments affected by smoke and fire. Firefighters advised 3 occupants to stay in apartment until hallways were vented of all smoke. All other affected occupants self-evacuated. All apartments and hallways were vented of smoke and all occupants were safely evacuated. FWFD completed all searches with no one found. TRAA medics treated and transported 2 occupants to local hospital. FWFD was assisted by FWPD, TRAA Medics, NCE, and AEP. FWFD investigators remained on scene to determine cause and origin.
