FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – New from overnight, the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) is investigating a shooting just before 3 a.m.
Officers were called to the 500 block of East Rudissill, close to Lafayette, on reports of a possible shooting and found the victim.
The adult male died later at the hospital.

In the early morning hours of May 7, 2026, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a possible shooting in the 500 block of East Rudisill Boulevard. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Officers immediately initiated lifesaving measures until medics arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
Officers and detectives began interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence at the scene. The FWPD Homicide Team, Crime Scene Unit, and Air Support Unit were requested to assist and continue the investigation.
This incident remains under active investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Team. No additional information is available for release at this time.
