FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – On Wednesday, Mayor Sharon Tucker announced the opening of the second 2026 grant cycle (3rd Cohort) under the City of Fort Wayne’s National Opioid Settlement Fund program. Applications are now being accepted through July 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM, with $500,000 in total funding available for this cycle.
The National Opioid Settlement Fund distributes funds received through national legal settlements with pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors. These funds are designated exclusively to support prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction services for Fort Wayne residents. To date, under Mayor Tucker’s leadership, $1.473 million has been distributed to organizations throughout the community.

“Fort Wayne is committed to turning settlement dollars into real change for our residents,” said Mayor Tucker. “Every grant we award is an opportunity to strengthen the programs and organizations that are doing the hard, essential work of helping people in our community prevent, treat, and recover from opioid use disorder. I encourage every eligible organization to apply.”
Award Amounts
Eligible applicants may request up to $50,000 per application per cycle, with a maximum of $100,000 per organization per year.
Who Is Eligible
Eligible applicants include:
- 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
- Faith-based organizations providing community services
- Health and behavioral health providers
- Recovery and harm reduction organizations
- Governmental entities
- For-profit entities providing opioid-related services
- Collaborative coalitions or partnerships led by an eligible organization
All applicants must be in good standing with the Indiana Secretary of State and serve residents within the City of Fort Wayne.
Funded Program Areas
In alignment with Exhibit E of the National Opioid Settlement Agreement, the City will fund programs in the following areas:
- Prevention & Education — school-based programs, community awareness, fentanyl education, and youth prevention
- Treatment & Recovery — medication for opioid use disorder, outpatient and residential treatment, recovery housing, and peer support
- Harm Reduction — naloxone distribution, overdose prevention, and outreach
- Support Services — case management, transportation, housing stability, and family support
- Workforce & System Development — training, capacity building, and provider education
The City will prioritize proposals that expand access to medication-assisted treatment, naloxone distribution, and trauma-informed care; serve populations disproportionately affected by opioid use disorder, including youth, justice-involved individuals, unhoused residents, veterans, and people with co-occurring mental health disorders; and demonstrate data-driven evaluation and evidence-based practices.
