FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says a shooting early Sunday morning left one person dead and eight others injured. Police responded to the shooting in the 2200 block of Oliver Street close to Bowser Park just before 3:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting that injured several people.
One woman was pronounced dead at the scene by medics, and the four men and four women hospitalized are expected to recover. No arrests have been made. The Fort Wayne Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward.

Fort Wayne Police Department Officers responded, provided emergency aid, secured the area, and began an investigation. Detectives are collecting evidence, reviewing available video, and speaking with witnesses.
This remains an active and evolving investigation. We will share confirmed information as it becomes available while protecting victims, family notifications, and the integrity of the case. Our goal is to identify those responsible, support the affected neighborhood, and restore a sense of safety.
On July 5, 2026, at approximately 0326 hrs, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2200 block of Oliver Street on reports of shots fired. After arriving on scene, officers located multiple shooting victims on scene including one deceased adult female. Investigators were notified of additional victims that had been transported to local hospitals.
In total, one adult female was deceased on scene, and eight adult victims were treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Four of the non-life-threatening injured victims were adult males and four victims were adult females.
The FWPD Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is investigating with the assistance of Crime Scene Personnel and the FWPD Air Support Unit.
