INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – A report released this week by Prosperity Indiana and the National Low Income Housing Coalition says Hoosiers are not earning enough money to afford rent.
They say people need to earn at least $19 an hour to afford a two-bedroom apartment, but the average wage for renters is $17.86 an hour.
People making the state’s minimum wage of $7.25 need to work 105 hours a week to afford the $988 monthly rent on average.
