FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana State Police (ISP) detectives are conducting a death investigation related to a shooting incident that occurred at the ISP Fort Wayne Post parking lot Thursday morning.
ISP says at approximately 4:40 a.m., a vehicle pulled into the Fort Wayne Post parking lot on Ellison Road in Fort Wayne. A trooper at the post walked out to check on the vehicle.
Before he could make contact he reported hearing what he thought was a gunshot and then saw an adult woman insoide the vehicle with what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
The trooper pulled the woman from the car and began to render treatment. She was taken from the scene by ambulance however, live-savings efforts were not successful. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
ISP has not identified the woman further than saying that she was a 69-year-old woman from Fort Wayne and that her family had been notified.

The Indiana State Police is currently conducting a death investigation related to a shooting incident that occurred at the ISP Fort Wayne Post parking lot earlier Thursday morning.
At approximately 04:40 am, a vehicle pulled into the Fort Wayne Post parking lot at 5811 Ellison Rd in Fort Wayne. An on-duty Trooper at the post walked out to check on the vehicle. While making his way to the vehicle, he heard what he thought might be a gunshot. The Trooper then noticed one female victim inside the vehicle with what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds. The victim, a 69-year-old woman from Ft. Wayne, was pulled from the car, and the Trooper started first aid. Emergency medical personnel were called and arrived. The female was transported to Lutheran Hospital, where they attempted to save her. The victim did not survive the incident. The family has been notified. Indiana State Police detective and crime scene personnel are completing the investigation.
ISP was assisted by Fort Wayne PD, Allen County PD, and West Central Fire.
