FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A local fitness center will get some upgrades under a new agreement with the YMCA. The City of New Haven and the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne released the news of an operating and lease agreement to create the new 3Rivers FCU Family YMCA. The Y will begin operating and expanding programming at the existing facility located inside the New Haven Community Center at 7500 State Road 930 East, Fort Wayne, IN 46803 in April of 2025.
The Fitness Center is currently operated by the New Haven/Adams Township Parks and Recreation Department, and membership is required to use the facility. Current Fitness Center members can transition into YMCA members with full access to all YMCA branches and facilities at their current Fitness Center rate for two years, eventually graduating to Y membership rates.
Beginning in early April, all members of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne will have access to the new 3Rivers FCU Family YMCA, which will serve as the ninth wellness center within the association.
Thanks to a generous donation from 3Rivers Federal Credit Union for naming rights, the new facility will be called the 3Rivers FCU Family YMCA.
The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne is committed to increasing the number of group exercise classes and personal training opportunities offered at the 3Rivers FCU Family YMCA, while also adding additional youth programming, activities for families, and expanding recreational opportunities. Current staff of the New Haven Fitness Center will be offered employment by the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.
Andrew Gritzmaker, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne said “Expanding into an agreement with the city of New Haven helps us to put the Y’s programming within reach of a wider population. The addition of this facility helps us grow and serve more members while adding an additional location in the heart of a growing community. We thank the staff and board of the Parks and Recreation department for their efforts in making this partnership happen, and 3Rivers Federal Credit Union for their significant financial commitment.”
“The City of New Haven is excited to announce the enhancement of the current New Haven fitness facility at the Community Center,” adds Mayor of New Haven Steven McMichael. “The 3Rivers FCU Family YMCA will be a wonderful addition to the community. This newest partnership with the YMCA right here in New Haven will not only continue to conveniently provide New Haven residents with a quality fitness center, but additional amenities that will enhance the well-being of New Haven residents through a variety of programming for all ages and abilities. This is a great win for New Haven.”
“With our roots in East Allen County as part of the International Harvester legacy and as we celebrate 90 years of commitment to the communities we serve, 3Rivers is proud to support this investment in New Haven. This partnership with the YMCA reflects our belief in the power of strong, healthy communities,” stated Don Cates, President & CEO of 3Rivers. “Financial wellness and physical wellness go hand in hand, and the 3Rivers FCU Family YMCA will support both by providing resources for individuals and families to thrive.”
