FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died at the Allen County Jail on Friday morning. The coroner says that 52-year-old Jesse Allen Jr. suffered a medical emergency and died of natural causes. (Coroner’s release below)
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department said confinement officers found him just before 4 a.m. Friday. Despite life-saving measures taken at the jail, officials say he was pronounced dead in the cell.

The Indiana State Police, with the assistance of the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, are investigating the death of an inmate that occurred on 04/25/2025 at the Allen County Jail.
At approximately 3:48 am, Confinement officers discovered an unresponsive male suffering from a medical emergency. Jail and medical personnel responded immediately and initiated life-saving measures. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were also dispatched to the facility. Despite these efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Per standard protocol, the Indiana State Police were notified and will be conducting an independent investigation into the incident. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.
On Friday, April 25th, 2025, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a death that had occurred in the Allen County Jail, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The individual was pronounced deceased on scene. The person was identified as Jesse Lee Allen Jr., 52, male, Black of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
An autopsy has been completed, and notification has been made to the legal next of kin. The Cause of Death is Aortic Dissection, and the Manner of Death is Natural.
