FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – One person was in critical condition after a crash involving a pickup truck and a motorized scooter just north of downtown Fort Wayne.
Fort Wayne police responded to the 2800 block of N. Clinton St. around 10 p.m. Thursday. When officers arrived, they found a pickup truck that had hit a motorized scooter. Medics took the male who was operating the scooter to a hospital in critical condition.
According to police, the man was on the scooter traveling north on Clinton Street. Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol were factors. The Fort Wayne Police Department’s FACT is still investigating.

An accident involving a pickup truck and a motorized scooter, leaves a male in life threatening condition at the 2800 block of N Clinton Street.
On May 1st 2025, at approximately 10:02 pm FWPD received a call for assistance in the area of 2800 N Clinton Street. After Officers arrived on scene, they found a pickup truck had struck a motorized scooter, that was on the roadway. Officers aired for Medics to make the scene while they provided medical aid. Once medics arrived, they quickly transported the male who was operating the scooter, to a local hospital in life threatening condition.
The information known at this time is the male, was wearing all black, was on a motorized scooter traveling north on the roadway of Clinton Street. The driver of the pickup truck, who was traveling north on the inside lane of Clinton Street, crested the hill, and contacted the motorized scooter. The pickup truck immediately came to a stop, in which then calls to dispatch were made.
It’s not believed speed nor alcohol were factors in the accident. The incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department’s FACT.
