INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The State of Indiana says it is aware of scam emails that are appearing in people’s inboxes that seem to be from legitimate email addresses.
The email claims someone has unpaid EZ-Pass tolls, and the Indiana Department of Technology says a contractor’s account was hacked and that was used to send the messages.
One clue that it is not legitimate is that the emails from the governor’s office feature Eric Holcomb as governor, even though he left office in January.
15 departments in the Indiana state government have been identified as sending the scam emails so far.
