GRANT CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Grant County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a man wanted for two felony warrants. Police say he led them on a chase Tuesday night.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Brayton Tedder was the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on I-69 around 10 p.m. When the officer was conducting the traffic stop, Tedder allegedly “forcibly removed the driver” and took off. Police gave chase, but the vehicle evaded them until stopping at a residence in Gas City, where Tedder took off.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Department says he is still at large and wanted for two felony warrants.
The following was released:
On the evening of Tuesday, May 13, 2025, just before 10:00 p.m., a traffic stop initiated by a Grant County Sheriff’s Deputy on I-69 near the 264 mile marker escalated into a vehicle pursuit when the passenger, later identified as Brayton Tedder, forcibly removed the driver and took off at a high rate of speed.
The pursuit continued westbound on State Road 18 and into the Gas City area, reaching speeds near 97 mph and disregarding multiple stop signs and red lights. Law enforcement officers deployed stop sticks to safely disable the fleeing vehicle. Tedder ultimately stopped at a residence on East South G Street in Gas City and fled on foot into the home.

A perimeter was quickly established, and a K9 unit was deployed to search the area. The residence was cleared with consent from the occupant, and it was determined Tedder had exited through the back door prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Four children were present in the home during the incident.
A search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine, a syringe, a meth pipe, a torn baggie with residue, and a straw containing a white powdery substance. All items were collected and secured as evidence.
Tedder remains at large and is currently wanted on two active felony warrants:
Failure to Appear – Level 5 Felony under IC 11-8-8-17(a)(1), for failure to register as a sex or violent offender with a prior conviction
Unlawful Entry by a Serious Sex Offender – Level 6 Felony under IC 35-42-4-14(b)
Additional charges related to this incident will be forwarded to the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
