FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – On Saturday, May 16, 2026, Humane Fort Wayne will host an adoption event at Zeigler Subaru of Fort Wayne (502 W. Coliseum Blvd.) from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
The Humane Fort Wayne shelter at 901 St. Francis Dr. (formerly Leesburg Rd.) will be closed on Saturday as a result of this event. The shelter will re-open on Sunday, May 17, 2026 for normal business hours from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
More than 30 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be looking for their forever homes at the event. Information including photos and detailed bios for pets who will be at the event will be posted to Humane Fort Wayne’s website on Friday evening.
Potential adopters should remember the following tips:
Submit your application now – adoptions are on a first come, first served basis for pre-approved adopters.
All human members of your household must be present to adopt – bring the whole family!
If you’re thinking of adopting an adult dog, we recommend bringing any current dogs in your home for a meet and greet, as well.
Be prepared to wait – these events always have high turnout and from start to finish the adoption process can take up to three hours.
