INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Enrollment of new autism therapy providers in Indiana is being paused effective Saturday.
The state Family and Social Services Administration says the pause is for at least six months, with FSSA deputy secretary Eric Miller saying Indiana “has seen an incredible surge in ABA therapy over the past several years, a trend that raises concerns about sustainability and program integrity.”
ABA therapy is applied behavior analysis, and over 6,000 Hoosiers are accessing it through Medicaid as of January 2026.
The therapy cost the state around $35 million for that month.
