UPDATE (July 8, 2026):
Police arrested a man they believe is responsible for a deadly shooting early Sunday morning. The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says 36-year-old Cameron Mikell was tracked down and arrested Monday night off Lower Huntington close to Bluffton Road.
He is facing two charges, including murder for the death of 20-year-old Lamond Goodier.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified by a local hospital regarding the death of Lamond Rashod Goodier, male, Black, age 20, from Fort Wayne, Indiana. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 03:00 hours, at the Shell Gas Station, located at 1923 Broadway, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Lamond Rashod Goodier was involved in a disturbance and sustained a gunshot wound, before being transported by private conveyance to a local hospital.
The autopsy has been completed, and notification has been made to the next of kin.
Lamond Rashod Goodier’s Cause of Death has been determined to be Gunshot Wound of Head, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Lamond Rashod Goodier is the 19th Homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2026.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, The Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
The FWPD put out this statement following Mikell’s arrest:
On July 5, 2026, at approximately 0259 hours, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Broadway in reference to a disturbance involving a weapon. Officers arrived and at the scene and were notified of a shooting victim at a local hospital. Investigators determined the victim was shot during the disturbance and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. Detectives with the FWPD Homicide Unit responded and conducted a criminal investigation.
After a thorough investigation, FWPD Homicide Detectives identified Cameron Mikell, 36 years old, as the suspect in the investigation. On July 6th, 2026, at approximately 2100hrs, the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Task Force located Mikell near the intersection of Lower Huntington Road and Bluffton Road. Mikell was preliminarily charged with Murder and Unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and transported to the Allen County Jail.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a shooting at a gas station early Sunday morning that killed one person and injured another.
Police responded at 3 a.m. to the Shell station at Broadway and Taylor Street, and two victims arrived at an area hospital while officers were on their way. One of the men later died. No arrests have been made.
The FWPD put out the following:
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) responded to the Shell gas station in the 1900 block of Broadway after receiving reports of a disturbance involving an armed individual. While officers were en route, two victims arrived at a local hospital, one with apparent gunshot wound(s). Medical staff determined that one victim was in life-threatening condition and the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Homicide detectives are currently on scene interviewing witnesses and reviewing any available surveillance footage. The Crime Scene Unit is collecting evidence and documenting the area, with support from the Air Support Unit.
