FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A Fort Wayne home off Fairfield Avenue near Paulding is badly damaged after an overnight fire.
One person was inside but able to get out before crews arrived at the home on Pursley Drive just after 2 a.m.
Firefighters could see flames when they arrived, and it took around 25 minutes to put out. The structure suffered moderate to heavy water, smoke, and fire damage. The official cause is under investigation.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department released the following:
FWFD was dispatched to a possible structure fire. Crews arrived on scene and found a small one-story house with visible fire on the exterior. Crews quickly made sure that the home was not occupied and extinguished the fire. The fire was contained and under control in approximately 25 minutes. Thanks for the addition help from City communications, FWPD, Neighborhood code enforcement, AEP, NIPSCO, TRAA, Parkers towing, and the Red Cross.
