FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Another TinCaps player is getting major attention.
Minor League Baseball has announced Fort Wayne TinCaps infielder Bradley Frye as its Midwest League Player of the Week for Aug. 17-23.
The team released the following:
Across six games, Frye slashed .417 (10-for-24)/.481/.708 with a 1.189 OPS. The undrafted free agent signee out of Mercer led the league in hits (10), total bases (17), and runs (7), while ranking second in batting average (.417) and extra-base hits (4), and third in RBI (7).
Frye is the second TinCap to win Player of the Week this season, with Alex McCoy winning the award for his performance July 27 to Aug. 2. McCoy was the first to win it since MLB’s No. 2 prospect Leo De Vries became the first-ever TinCap to win the award in back-to-back weeks from April 21 to May 4, 2025.
The 24-year-old recorded a hit in five of six games, recording multiple hits in three. On Tuesday, Frye recorded his first three-hit game at the High-A level, including a two-run double before adding a double off the center field wall on Thursday. On Friday, the Marietta, Georgia native ended just a double shy of the cycle with a single, a three-run home run to right-center field, and his first High-A triple.
Since his promotion on Aug. 5, Frye is batting .313 with a .942 OPS in 15 games with six extra-base hits, including two home runs. He has driven in nine runs, scored 12 himself, and gone 5-for-5 in stolen-base attempts. He leads the team in 12 offensive categories, while ranking second in a pair since his promotion.
The TinCaps continue their season-long two-week homestand Tuesday, Aug. 24, to start a six-game series against the Reds-affiliate Dayton Dragons. Thirsty Thursday™ is also Fort Wayne Wizards Throwback Night, with the first 1,500 fans receiving rally towels.
This week is fans’ final chance to see the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2026, with the final home game on Sunday, Aug. 30. Tickets start at just $9 and are available through TinCaps.com, by calling 260-482-6400, and at the Parkview Field Ticket Office.
