Here’s what’s new to TV and streaming…
TV Tonight: “Dolly Parton: An American Icon”
CBS is airing an hour-long special at 10 o’clock tonight to pay tribute to Dolly Parton, who died yesterday after a secret battle with cancer. ABC was also quick to air its own special edition of “20/20” honoring Dolly last night. You can catch that on Disney Plus / Hulu today if you missed it.
• “Dolly Parton: An American Icon” at 10:00 p.m. on CBS. Gayle King and Tony Dokoupil host this tribute, which features excerpts from “60 Minutes” and Dolly’s other CBS interviews. They’ll also have someone at Dollywood.
• “Dolly Parton: An American Original” on Disney Plus. David Muir hosts this “20/20” special which aired on ABC last night. It includes Dolly’s past interviews with Barbara Walters and Robin Roberts . . . plus tributes from Keith Urban, Jane Fonda, Ashley McBryde, Rascal Flatts, Keke Palmer, and execs for the Opry and the CMAs.
• “America’s Got Talent” quarterfinals at 8:00 p.m. on NBC.
• “Jeopardy! Masters” quarterfinals at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
• “Nation’s Dumbest” at 9:00 p.m. on Fox. Elle King, Dr. Drew, Andrew Yang, Jon Heder, Steve-O, and Ice-T have “graduated” and, of course, Carmen Electra was “expelled”. The five remaining celebs trying to avoid being named the Nation’s Dumbest and fight their way off the show are:
Anthony Michael Hall, NFL stud Matt Leinart, Jojo Siwa, Hilaria Baldwin, and TikTok’s Chase Hudson.
• Episode 5 of “Reacher” Season 4 on Amazon.
• Episode 4 of “Ted Lasso” Season 4 on Apple TV.
• “The Simpsons: Yellow Mirror” on Disney Plus. A “Dark Mirror” spoof where Marge is controlled by A.I. and Homer learns a heartbreaking truth about reality.
